Wedding Planning FAQ's

How To Choose A Venue

Common questions every wedding / event planner gets asked

Plan It To Perfection

Venue Hire

Deciding on the number of guests will greatly narrow down your venue choices. Most venues can cater for smaller weddings of 50 guests, but there are only a few venues that can accommodate a party of 200 people.

Weddings & Events

Your venue hire fee will make up between 15% to 20% of your total wedding budget. Take the venue cost and multiply it with 5. If this figure is above your total budget, then it is too expensive and you will be better off to continue hunting around.

Venue Hire

Venue packages differ enormously from one to the other. Find out first what is included before making a choice.

Venue Hire

Ask the venue manager about the power sources and whether the existing infrastructure can handle more lighting and the power needed for your speakers and sound equipment. If not, you will have to notify your DJ and lighting company to bring additional leads to avoid overloading and embarrassing power cuts during the evening.

Venue Hire

Popularity of season, unfortunately, creates a peak in demand and it is for that reason that you will have to start looking around at least 1 year ahead of time if you want to be certain of getting a specific date. In the Western Cape, summer and autumn (due to high winter rainfall) are the best seasons to get married in.

Venue Hire

Make sure that you have exclusive use of the venue on your wedding day. The last thing you want is to compete with another couple for the best photo opportunities or run out of parking space or guest accommodation.

Hiring A Venue Made Easy

Your special day is our passion!

Congratulations, you have a big event coming up – Now for the next big step – Choosing the perfect venue! Over the years, we’ve learned many “tricks of the trade” to help many a bride and customer plan their special day.

Where do I even start with the amazingness that is My Pretty Vintage!? We first met Dinie, Elizabeth, and the rest of the team via email through our wedding coordinator and felt like we hit it off right away! After a few short emails briefly explaining what we had in mind for flowers and décor, we quickly received a reply with a quote along with further detailed questions about more specifics. Throughout the process of planning My Pretty Vintage was always available for questions via email or phone and were also more than happy to do a mock table with us to get a better idea of what we liked. They weren’t afraid to make suggestions (which we were happy to hear. After all, they are the professionals and have done waaayyy more wedding than us!) but were also open to our ideas as well. We absolutely loved working with the whole team, and they truly made planning fun and exciting <3 The day of the wedding could not have turned out more beautiful, and we definitely have My Pretty Vintage for that. And while I think any couple can agree that planning a wedding can often be stressful, My Pretty Vintage genuinely made our wedding day stress free. We never had to worry about any problems (because if there was one, we certainly didn’t know about it!), and they set up like true professionals. All the many colours were perfect, and the flowers, coloured glass pieces, and other décor were absolutely stunning. Our guests raved and raved about how gorgeous it was! Our day could not have turned out more perfect, and I think the pictures speak for themselves! So there you have it. If you’re looking for a florist / décor stylist and our on the fence, I give My Pretty Vintage two very big thumbs up!!

The best decor team a girl could ask for leading up to (and of course, including) her wedding day. Their work was top shelf, and we were so impressed. They executed my vision for a cultural symphony so effortlessly. It took a few takes (and a couple of ladders), but I really think that it was so worth the trouble! Our guests can not stop raving about how spectacular everything looked; how it all came together. I still feel like I'm in a bit of a dream state, remembering that perfect pop of pink - the bougainvillea was everything. I think all three of our traditions and cultures were woven seamlessly into the look and feel of the day, and that is truly special. Angie, Dinie and Elizabeth were kind and patient through all the back and forths, and their excellent service calmed me down and made me feel like everything is under control. Thanks!
